2011 – Goals

I set myself some lofty goals for 2010, and looking back, I don’t think I’ve achieved much.

I might as well have said that I will learn to fly under own steam, and have at least one run on the moon.

I don’t have to look far at why I failed to accomplish most of these goals.  I can sum it up in one word:  PROCRASTINATION!

Over the last number of years I’ve become a king at procrastination.  I mean why do today what you can put off indefinitely, right?

WRONG!

So I’m going to give myself only one goal for 2011.  Stop procrastinating.

That’s it, easy as that.

Or maybe not that easy, because it is one of the hardest habits to break, especially if you’ve been doing it for as long as I have.

So, starting tomorrow, because today is practically over anyway, I will be doing what I need to be doing as soon as I possibly can, without thinking up any excuses.  Whether that be training, dieting, or spending quality time with my family.

Doing a monthly review will not work, because by the end of the month you will not remember what you were up to at the beginning.

So I’m going to try to have a daily reflection time, trying to see where I did well, and where not.

Another thing I have to learn to do is to disconnect.  So that I can rest and recover properly, avoiding falling into the burnout trap again (more about that in another post).

May 2011 be a great year for all of us.  What are your goals, and how do you see yourself accomplishing them?
